DSA San Diego has endorsed Alexander Kraft, a proud socialist, labor organizer and former educator, for Mayor of El Cajon. Kraft, an El Cajon native, has a proven track record of fighting for the working class. Kraft has stood with tennants to fight for fair rents, and marched against the second Gulf war. In his union, Kraft has been elected and served as Shop Steward, Chapter Treasurer, Bargaining Team, Executive Board member, and delegate to the county Labor Council. His 5-point agenda is strongly aligned with the DSA platform:
End corporate property takeovers, and fund homebuyer assistance programs.
Deliver a city minimum wave, and gurantee union wages and inner-community hiring on all city projects.
Audit and stop police collaboration with ICE.
Repair the roads, sidewalks, and parks, and reopen public restrooms.
Reallocate police resources to a community response team tasked with responding to mental health crises.

DSA San Diego has endorsed Kenneth Zuniga, DSA Member and former Co-Chair of DSA San Diego's North County branch for Mayor of Vista. Kenneth has fought to preserve protected bike lanes, pushed back against surveillance technologies that threaten residents' privacy, organized the community to keep ICE out of city facilities, and advocated for safer pedestrian crossing in his own neighborhood. Kenneth cares deeply for all Vista residents regardless of economic status - as a member of Vista's homelessness commission, he has tirelessly pushed the city council to preseve public resources and give a voice to the unheard. Kenneth's policy platform is reflected in the following points:
A Livable, Family-Friendly Vista
Housing People Can Actually Afford
Safe, Clean, and Connected Neighborhoods
Better Pay, Stronger Worker Rights, and Thriving Local Businesses
Get Our Homeless Neighbors Off the Streets and into Supportive Services
Parks, Green Space & a Sustainable Vista
Promote Vista as a Destination

TAX THE RICH!
That's right - Prop 40, the billionaire tax, has succesfully qualified for the ballot, due to the efforts of numerous unions and advocacy groups, including the work of DSA San Diego.
This ballot measure calls for a one-time, 5% emergency wealth tax on California's billionaires in order to fund and prevent the collapse of our healthcare system. The passing of this measure would set a new precedence - proving that the working class is ready to force billionaires to pay their fair share.
Vote YES on Prop 40!
California schools are at risk of losing funding - help us permanently secure funding for California's education system!
DSA San Diego canvassed for signatures for Prop 3 earlier this year, and along with the efforts of other California Unions and advocacy groups, met the threshold of signatures required for qualification.
Prop 3 extends an existing tax on high-income Californians ($361,000 for single filers and $721,000 for joint filers), with 100% of the revenue going towards K-12 school and state community colleges. A failure to pass would mean the expiration of this tax, and the loss of it's existing funding, harming public schools state-wide, and the communities they support.
